Frank Scalet, of Warsaw, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at the age of 76.
He was born on Feb. 13, 1948, in San Diego, Calif., to Mildred Nanfito and Richard Frank Scalet. Frank graduated from Charleston High School in Charleston, Ill., in 1966 and attended Eastern Illinois University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1971. He served in the Army Reserves in the Illinois National Guard for seven years. Frank later earned his Master’s degree in 1983 from Indiana University. After graduation he began working for R.R. Donnelley & Sons in Warsaw as a biller until he retired in 2011 after 40 years.
On April 15, 1978, Frank married Linda Sue Livingstone, and they were blessed with two children and celebrated 46 years of marriage together. Frank was always devoted to his wife and children and was always available whenever they needed him. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gardening, gold prospecting and working on stone carvings. Frank was also very skilled with his hands and over the years remodeled many homes in Fort Wayne. He had a kind heart and always had a soft spot for rescuing dogs and received as much love from his pets as he gave them.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Scalet, Warsaw; son, Greg Scalet, South Whitley; daughter, Laura Scalet, Fort Wayne; and two brothers, Ron Scalet, Carbondale, Ill.; John (Faye) Kassing, Columbia, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Wayne Scalet.
Frank’s life will be celebrated with a service at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Glenn Hall. Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Memorial donations may be directed to Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County, 1048 S. 325 W., Pierceton, IN 46562.
