SOUTH BEND – The South Bend Museum of Art (SBMA) continues its long-standing partnership with the Scholastic Art Awards, celebrating the creative achievements of young artists across 19 counties in Lower Southwest Michigan and Northwest Indiana.
This year, SBMA juried an astounding 3,917 submissions from 2,792 students in grades 7–12, resulting in over 1,100 award recipients.
The Scholastic Art Awards Exhibition will open on Feb. 8, 2025, showcasing more than 500 Gold and Silver Key winners in the Barbara Warner and Crowley Community Galleries. To honor these talented students and their dedicated educators, SBMA will host a Family Day along with two awards ceremonies throughout the day to accommodate the growing number of honorees and their families.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the next generation of artists and the incredible dedication of their teachers,” said Lisa Shaffer, executive director of SBMA. “This exhibition is a testament to the depth of creativity and artistic excellence in our community.”
The exhibition will be free and open to the public from Feb. 8 through April 13. SBMA invites the community to join in recognizing the artistic talent of the region’s youth and the educators who inspire them. Generously sponsored by the Shein Trust.
