South Whitley Town Council Considers Internet For Parks

SOUTH WHITLEY – At Tuesday’s regular meeting, the South Whitley Town Council discussed pricing options for internet connectivity in the town park and in the Don and Vi LeBrun Gateway Park.
Surf Internet has offered free installation if the town signs a three-year agreement. Council President Randy Cokl said there are two tiers at $175 or $235 per month, with the higher tier including two additional routers.
Councilmember Trey Weber asked that the council consider rentable canoes and kayaks for the Eel River access.
In other business, council:
• Heard from Michael Adams of Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA) regarding outage response times and overall utility service and performance.
• Heard from town resident Karen Jordan who inquired about repainting the water tower and nuisance ordinances.
• Approved extending current on-call pay for officers indefinitely, subject to change.
Council will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
