NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Town Council held its first hearing on the 2025 budget Monday at the town hall.
The proposed 2025 budget is $1,972,779, lower than the 2024 budget. Last year’s budget totaled $2,055,339.
The budget includes all departments, except wastewater.
There were no remonstrators at the meeting.
The budget includes the following funds: casino/riverboat, $15,000; rainy day, $106,000; general fund, $1,086,670; local road and streets, $46,309; motor vehicle highway, $300,800; continuing education, $7,000; cumulative capital improvement (cigarette tax), $6,000, cumulative capital development, $20,000; and the economic development tax credit is $385,000.
Only the general fund and the motor vehicle highway funds are raised through the town’s tax rate.
The assessed value is $81.6 million.
There is no proposed change in the tax rate. The current tax rate is $0.5255 per $100 of assessed valuation.
Dan Thystrup, president of the council, said he was happy with the 2025 budget.
“We are happy that we are a little lower than last year,” said Thystrup. “We have been economic and frugal. The group has been working together is the important part.”
They started working on the budget in June.
