A new restaurant is moving into the Penguin Point buildings on Center and Detroit streets in Warsaw.
Beef-A-Roo, a regional restaurant company headquartered in Rockford, Ill., is expected to open the stores formerly home of Penguin Point on East Center and North Detroit streets.
News Now Warsaw reached out to Beef-A-Roo’s corporate office four times this week, but never received a call back.
Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce announced the moves in a light-hearted video posted Friday on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/reel/429651373073150.
Penguin Point closed its few remaining stores in northern Indiana in November 2023 after years of struggling to continue what had been a popular chain specializing in chicken and tenderloin sandwiches.
The restaurant chain was founded in 1967.
The Beef-A-Roo menu includes roast beef sandwiches, wraps, chicken and turkey sandwiches, soups and salads, and a selection of heart-healthy foods, according to the company website.
Telltale signs of change at the property began earlier this month when the parking lots were resurfaced and striped. Over the weekend, crews were seen applying new exterior paint to the Center Street building.
The company has several stores in the Rockford., Ill., area, two in northern Michigan, one in Lebanon, Ind., and others in Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.
