An Indiana State Police lieutenant was sentenced in Kosciusko County on a misdemeanor OWI charge.
John Bradley Weaver, 52, Rochester, pled guilty to operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to 0.15 or more, a class A misdemeanor.
On Tuesday, Kosciusko Superior Court II Judge Torrey Bauer sentenced Weaver to 365 days in the Kosciusko County Jail, with the sentence being suspended entirely.
A 180-day license suspension for Weaver was stayed, as Weaver was granted specialized driving privileges. Weaver can only drive a vehicle equipped with an operating ignition interlock device. He must also comply with several additional requirements, including carrying a copy of the specialized driving privilege order on his person.
Around 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6, Kosciusko County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at the Moose Family Center Lodge in Warsaw. Prior to arrival, deputies were advised a man with a firearm on his hip went to the lodge's door, which was locked, and attempted to open it. The suspect appeared to be intoxicated and was staggering around.
According to court documents, deputies were advised the person, later identified as Weaver, entered a vehicle. The vehicle was a 2023 Dodge Durango registered to the Indiana Department of Administration in Indianapolis.
Weaver briefly drove on Lake Street, with his vehicle's driver's side tires crossing over the solid center line at one point.
Weaver then turned into the Circle K gas station's parking lot. When Weaver exited his vehicle, deputies noticed Weaver was exhibiting physical signs of intoxication.
When asked where he was coming from, Weaver said he was at Pizza King for a football referee meeting. He told deputies he had about four drinks.
Weaver failed several field sobriety tests and a portable breath test resulted in a 0.19 BrAC. A chemical breath test's results were .219g/210L.
