Editor, Times-Union:
Really, Times-Union? The biggest, most newsworthy story from this last weekend was Trump demeaning his opponent at his Pennsylvania rally? A story so important it warranted half of the front page? I guess MAGA readers had to be reminded how “eloquent” Donald Trump can be when belittling the more educated, more experienced, successful woman of color who just might become the next president of the U.S. The article quoted many of Trump’s slurs but apparently tried to “soften” his aspersions as best they could by not reporting he actually implied she was “mentally disabled.” (I’m guessing he believes that by tearing others down he somehow elevates himself — at least in his own mind — and, I suppose, in the minds of his sycophants.) I’m thinking that his derisive comment might even be construed as an insult to people who are actually (and sadly) mentally disabled. So much for “toning down the hateful, divisive rhetoric.”
In my opinion, the only other story that warranted front page status in any newspaper (in addition to the turmoil in the Middle East) would have been that “little” storm that devastated a number of our southeastern states, caused the deaths of well over 100 citizens, and left millions without power and water. There are still hundreds of people unaccounted for, and thousands still without power.
But, hey, whatever Donald says about Kamala certainly “trumps” mega disasters every time and should make the front page. Right?
