LaVerna Kaye Webster

LaVerna Kaye Webster, of Warsaw, passed away peacefully at her home on May 21, 2024, at the age of 79.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1944, in Pontiac, Mich., and was the daughter of Irene and Fred Spilak. On July 2, 1983, she married Murl H. Webster, and they were blessed to have shared 28 years of marriage together before he passed away on Jan. 8, 2012.
LaVerna was a 1962 graduate of Rochester Adams High School in Rochester, Mich. After a successful career in various positions with the United States Postal Service in Davisburg, Mich., she was named postmaster in 1980. During her marriage to Murl, they lived in New York and Michigan followed by a move to Christiansted, St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands in 1989, where she met many lifelong friends. In St. Croix, LaVerna worked as a mortgage loan office with Barclay's Bank and as office manager of the radio station Mongoose 104.9 FM, WMNG. In 2001, they made their final move to their home in Warsaw, Indiana. No matter where they lived, LaVerna was always prepared to host family and friends. LaVerna loved traveling with her children and grandchildren and was especially fond of traveling to the United Kingdom later in life. She had a love for all different types and genres of music and especially enjoyed sharing her love for music by taking her children and grandchildren to concerts. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will forever be remembered for her love of her family and will be dearly missed.
She leaves behind three children Kimberley Lord, Saginaw, Mich.; Mark (Teri) Skibowski, Warsaw; and Jennifer (Chris) Voss, Gregory, Mich.; and one stepdaughter Becky (Nick) Hayes, Davidson, N.C. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: Amanda (Andew), Katrina (David), Paul, Justin, Amanda (Doug), Brittany, Alexander, Brandon (Lizzy) and Madison; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Murl; and her granddaughter, Erin.
A private memorial service will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel in Warsaw.
