AKRON – Ruthie J. Sitts, 81, of Warsaw, passed at 11:19 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.
Ruthie Sitts, born on July 20, 1942, in Marianna, Fla., the daughter of the late Roland Harvey and Margie Ann Griffin Maddox. On Aug. 12, 1995, Ruthie married Billy E. Sitts Sr. in Akron. Billy survives her, holding onto the precious memories they shared.
Ruthie dedicated over a decade of her life to serving as a group leader at Dwyer. Additionally, she worked for the Wal-mart pharmacy in Rochester.
A lover of nature, Ruthie found solace in her garden, tending to her beloved flowers. She delighted in the company of hummingbirds and butterflies, finding joy in their delicate presence. Ruthie’s blue bowling ball and numerous trophies stood as testaments to her skill and for the sport. She was a former member of the Women’s Auxiliary Post 2919 in South Whitley.
In her earlier years, Ruthie was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Columbia City. She eagerly anticipated trips to Florida. Camping adventures with her grandkids brought laughter and cherished memories. Above all, Ruthie’s heart overflowed with love for others.
Survivors include her husband, Billy “Butch” Sitts, of Warsaw; children: David and wife Darlene Moore, of Ossian; Teresa and husband Kevin Steffe, of Warsaw; Curt and wife Joni Moore, of Warsaw; Peggy and husband Todd Anglin, of Akron; Billy Jr. and wife Danielle Sitts, of Cromwell; 16 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents; children, Doug Moore and Cynthia Sitts VanKersen; two brothers and three sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 5 in the Akron Cemetery, Akron, with Pastor Frank Whitaker officiating.
The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron.
Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Riley’s Children’s Foundation, P.O. Box 3356, Indianapolis, IN 46206-335; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
