The day began with a baccalaureate service at 2 p.m., where Dr. Tindi Seje delivered a speech, who motivated the graduates to remain steadfast in their pursuit of knowledge, emphasizing the importance of lifelong learning, according to a news release from Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation.
The graduation ceremony commenced at 2:45 p.m., filled with speeches, music and a sense of accomplishment. The TVHS choir and band performed songs that resonated with themes of resilience and perseverance, setting an uplifting tone for the event, stated the release.
Class salutatorian Caroline Stump delivered a speech expressing gratitude to all those who have supported and impacted the class of 2024 throughout their high school journey. Her thanks underscored the strong community ties and the support system that has been pivotal for the students, stated the release.
Class valedictorian Kaylynn Miller took to the stage with a message encouraging her fellow graduates and all attendees to be present and cherish every moment, as each is unique and fleeting. Miller emphasized that a diploma does not fully encapsulate one's educational journey or personal growth. She urged everyone to look beyond titles, degrees and monetary success, advocating for a holistic view of oneself. Her closing words were a call to kindness and love, reminding everyone that these qualities are paramount, according to the release.
Principal Brandon Kresca addressed the graduates with pride, describing the class of 2024 as "tenacious." He acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances this class faced, beginning their high school experience amidst a global pandemic, and praised their record-breaking achievements in both athletics and academics. Kresca expressed his gratitude to the graduates and extended his best wishes for their future endeavors, reinforcing the enduring spirit of the school with the words, "Once a viking, always a viking!"
