Medtronic will be staying in Warsaw for the “foreseeable future” after all.
In October 2021, Medtronic announced it was transitioning manufacturing from the Warsaw facility at 2500 Silveus Crossing to other Medtronic manufacturing facilities in its operations network over the next few years. The Warsaw site was to continue to manufacture Medtronic products until all transfers were completed, with the site expected to close in 2024.
On Wednesday, a spokesperson from Medtronic shared the following statement: “Medtronic continually evaluates its operations and aligns our resources with our highest strategic priorities. We previously announced plans to close the Warsaw, Indiana, facility, but after careful analysis and consideration, we are working with our partners (Autocam Medical) to remain at our Warsaw facility for the foreseeable future.”
No further information was provided.
When Medtronic announced in 2021 it was moving out of the Warsaw facility, the company stated, “Medtronic operates within a highly competitive global healthcare environment. Throughout the company’s global locations, we consistently evaluate our operations to advance growth, improve operational efficiency and strengthen our position for the future.”
In February 2022, it was announced as Medtronic exited the Warsaw facility, they signed a letter of intent with Autocam Medical Device Holdings LLC to lease the building in phases. Autocam Medical also expressed interest in potentially hiring former Medtronic Warsaw employees.
