Police have identified the woman killed in Tuesday morning’s fatal crash in Warsaw, as well as identified the driver and passenger in the other vehicle who fled the scene as juveniles.
An update Thursday on the two-vehicle crash from the Warsaw Police Department identified the deceased woman as Prescilla De Barros Irmao, 37, of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, Canada. Investigators, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, have notified her family in Toronto, Canada.
Through the investigation, detectives identified a juvenile driver and juvenile passenger that were in the other vehicle involved in the crash, a Subaru B9 Tribeca. The update states the identification of the juveniles will be “held based on their age.”
At approximately 3:19 a.m. Tuesday, WPD, along with other first responders, were dispatched to a serious accident along Detroit Street (Ind. 15) between Jefferson Street and Winona Avenue, Warsaw.
Upon arrival, first responders found a 2021 Jeep overturned in the roadway adjacent to Winona Avenue and a 2006 Subaru B9 Tribeca with extensive damage to the driver’s side closer to Jefferson Street, according to a previous news release from the WPD. De Barros Irmao, who was driving the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner. The juveniles in the Subaru fled the scene prior to the first responders’ arrival.
Preliminary evidence suggests the Jeep had been driving southbound on Ind. 15 when the driver hit the northbound Subaru.
This is still an active investigation.
