The Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts’ Symphony of the Lakes announced its 10th Annual Young Artist Competition, on Jan. 25 at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.
Open to competing students in fifth through 12th grades, this event provides young musicians across Indiana the chance to showcase their talents, compete for scholarship prizes of up to $1,000 and perform with Symphony of the Lakes, according to a news release from The Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts.
Eligible participants include instrumentalists specializing in orchestral strings (including harp), woodwinds, brass and percussion. Admission to the competition is free to the public, making it a wonderful opportunity for the community to witness the exceptional talent of Indiana’s youth.
Dr. Jason Thompson, conductor and music director of Symphony of the Lakes, expressed his excitement to witness the remarkable talent that Indiana's young musicians bring to the stage, according to the release.
“I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing rising stars,” said Thompson. “It is a pleasure to have them solo with the orchestra when we are able to do so. It always ends up being a great experience for everyone involved.”
Interested students must complete the entry form and pay a $25 non-refundable entry fee by Jan. 3. Visit www.wagonwheelcenter.org to access the registration packet, which contains full eligibility requirements, competition guidelines and additional details.
