The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club announced its annual essay contest.
This year, they’re diving into the power of positive thinking with the theme: “How Optimism Has Paved My Way to Success,” according to a provided press release.
Do you believe optimism can be a roadmap to success? Whether it’s overcoming challenges, achieving goals, or simply navigating everyday life, they want to hear your experiences. Craft an essay that showcases the impact of optimism in your journey.
The contest is open to those 19 years old or younger. The deadline to apply is Feb. 7 at 11:59 p.m. The application can be found at https://warsawoptimist.org/projects/essays.
The contest allows participants to showcase their writing skills and share their unique perspective, compete for the chance to advance to regional competitions and inspire fellow youth with your story of optimism, according to the news release.
For the optimist oratorical contest, doors open at 12:30 p.m. with the contest starting at 1 p.m. March 30 in the old courtroom of the Kosciusko County Courthouse, 100 W. Center St., Warsaw.
First conducted in 1928, this is the second most popular Optimist International Program. Nearly 2,000 clubs participate in this program each year. The winners at the club level receive medallions and zone winners receive a plaque. Districts have the opportunity to provide a first-place scholarship of $2,500, a second-place scholarship of $1,500 and a third-place scholarship of $1,000.
