STATEHOUSE – State Reps. David Abbott (R-Rome City) and Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Abbott was appointed as vice chair of the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee, and will serve as a member of the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee.
"Government operations should prioritize serving the public and promoting transparency," Abbott said. "As vice chair, I will continue working to eliminate regulatory obstacles and advocate for Hoosiers."
Snow was appointed as vice chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, and will serve as a member of the House Insurance Committee. Snow said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing public testimony and considering amendments.
"As the new vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee, we must be sensible about how we allocate the state's money," Snow said. "I will use my previous experience as a member of the committee to review upcoming legislation and work to improve the lives of Hoosiers."
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars and watch committee meetings and session.
