Local High School Sports Recaps For Saturday, September 9

Football
Tipton at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley is still undefeated this season after dominating Tipton in every phase of the game in a 53-0 victory. The Vikings are now 4-0 this season.
Nate Parker was once again the focal point on offense for Valley, totalling 154 yards and four touchdowns rushing as well as 49 yards and another score receiving. Quarterback Cody Eastgate was efficient, throwing for 168 yards on 8-11 passing and the touchdown. Wyatt Hart was second on the team with 61 rushing yards.
The Vikings will look to remain unbeaten next week against Culver Academies.
Plymouth at Wawasee
Wawasee led for a majority of the game but was unable to hold on in a 25-19 Northern Lakes Conference loss to Plymouth. The Warriors are now 1-3 this season, 1-1 in the NLC.
Hunter Tinkey finished at just under 200 yards of total offense, racking up 168 and a touchdown on the ground as well as 31 receiving. Derek Bongtrager had 40 yards receiving and the lone touchdown reception. Mason Shoemaker threw for 103 yards.
The Warriors will look to get back in the win column on Friday against Concord.
Manchester at Rochester
Not much went will for Manchester on the road Friday night, as the Squires fell 50-0 to Rochester. The Squires are now 2-2 this season, 2-1 in the Three Rivers Conference.
Logan Eastgate threw for 95 yards on 50% passing. 63 of those yards went to Eli Metzger. Mason Rooney led the team in rushing with 36 yards. Reiss Gaerte had 29 yards rushing.
Manchester will have another chance at a win this Friday night against Northfield.
Whitko at Maconaquah
Whitko dropped its third straight game on Friday night, falling 43-6 to Maconaquah on the road. The Wildcats are now 1-3 this season, 0-3 in the Three Rivers Conference.
Jack Hill threw for 114 yards and a touchdown despite only completing three passes.Riley Harman had 108 yards receiving and a score. Breyden Kirkdorffer led Whitko in rushing with 33 yards. Kaden Long made five tackles on defense.
Whitko will try to get out of the skid on Friday night at home against North Miami.
Bremen at Triton
Triton battled hard but was unable to come away with a win at home on Friday night, falling 28-21 to Bremen. The Trojans are now 2-2 this season and will have another chance at a win Friday night on the road at Culver Community.
Volleyball
Warsaw at Slicer Invitational

Warsaw volleyball had another successful day of tournament play on Saturday, going 3-1 at the Slicer Invitational to take third place out of 12. The Lady Tigers are now 13-6 this season.
Warsaw defeated Elkhart, Mishawaka and Andrean while losing to Carroll. In the team’s final game of the day against Andrean, Melaina Hawblitzel led the team with 12 kills. She had 35 over the course of the tournament. Leah Henderson added 10. Ellie Hepler had 18 digs while Kenzie Chivington contributed 19 assists.
The Lady Tigers are back in action Tuesday night against Columbia City.
Triton/Whitko at Triton Invitational
A fantastic season for Triton volleyball got even better on Saturday, as the Lady Trojans went 4-0 at the Triton Invitational to take first place. Triton is now 10-1 after having won nine games in a row.
Triton defeated Bremen, Knox Culver Community and Caston in the championship game to bring home the gold. Addyson Viers had 40 kills across four games to lead the Lady Trojans. Hannah Snyder had 55 assists while Sierra Hawley had 40 digs. Avery Viers had five aces and 13 blocks, both team highs.
Whitko was also in attendance for the tournament, going 3-1 with wins over Caston, Argos and Knox and a loss to Kouts. The Lady ‘Cats are now 10-5 this season.
Triton travels to Jimtown on Monday while Whitko hosts Central Noble on Tuesday.
Boys Soccer
Caston at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian continued a great stretch of play on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Caston. The Cougars are now 5-4 this season.
Four of the five Lakeland Christian goals were scored by Jashawn Zielasko, who has had a fantastic season for LCA thus far. Aaron Gause scored a goal as well. Simon Avey had two assists.
The Cougars are back in action Tuesday evening at Culver Community.
Girls Soccer
Manchester at West Noble

Manchester girls soccer picked up yet another win on Saturday, defeating West Noble 3-2 on the road. The Lady Squires are now 6-4 this fall.
All three Manchester goals were scored by Campbell Bolinger. London Spangle added an assist on one of them. Grace Smith made seven saves in net.
The Lady Squires are on the road Monday against Tippecanoe Valley.
Girls Golf
Warsaw/Wawasee at Northern Lakes Conference Invite

Warsaw had yet another good day on the golf course Saturday, but it was not enough to win conference gold, as the Lady Tigers finished second at the Northern Lakes Conference Invite with a team score of 334. Northridge won the tournament as well as the conference. Wawasee finished seventh.
Abbey Peterson led the way for Warsaw once again, finishing with a 73, which was good enough for third overall. Olivia Robinson-Gay shot an 80 to finish second on the team. Abigail Davis rounded out the Warsaw top three with an 89.
Delany Delagrange was tops on the Wawasee team with a 95. Finishing second for the Lady Warriors was Francie McDonald with a 104 while Ava Couture rounded out the top three with a 109.
Golf sectionals begin on Friday.

Warsaw Takes Down No. 5 Carroll On Penalty Kicks
For the second straight season, the Warsaw boys soccer team’s regional semifinal match would not be determined in regular or extra time, instead needing penalty kicks to decide a winner. This time, the Tigers were able to come out on top, defeating No. 5 Carroll on the road 0-0 (5-4) to live to fight another day.
