COLUMBIA CITY –  Parkview Whitley Hospital has been recognized as a top community hospital performer in the 2023 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Ranking by Vizient Inc.
Parkview Whitley was recognized among 333 community hospitals rated by Vizient for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality care based on the Vizient Quality and Accountability Study, conducted annually since 2005. Parkview Noble Hospital, Parkview Huntington Hospital and Parkview DeKalb Hospital were also among the 22 hospitals recognized as top performers in Vizient’s community hospitals category.
The rating measured performance on the quality of patient care in six domains: safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, patient centeredness and equity. The recognition factors in measures from the Vizient Clinical Data Base and includes performance data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Healthcare Safety Network.
The Vizient Quality and Accountability Ranking helps participating hospitals and health systems understand their performance against their peers and identifies structures and processes associated with high performance in quality and safety across a broad spectrum of patient care activity. The recognition period is for work spanning July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
“At Parkview Whitley Hospital, we’re proud to serve our patients and their families with the highest quality of care and are proud to be recognized for it by Vizient,” said Scott Gabriel, market president, Parkview Health Northwest. “Being one of four Parkview community hospitals ranked as a Vizient top performer shows the commitment to quality our system has to providing care in rural areas like Whitley County.”
“Parkview Whitley Hospital has demonstrated high-level commitment to the continuous improvement that is necessary to succeed in today’s evolving healthcare environment,” said David Levine, group senior vice president, advanced analytics and data science for Vizient.
“The annual ranking leverages a unique, comprehensive and timely metrics-based methodology to recognize hospitals that achieve results on key measures that define quality patient care and delivery. Congratulations Parkview, on this prestigious honor.”
