Richard ‘Bull’ L. Stengel Sr.

Richard “Bull” L. Stengel Sr., 69, Warsaw, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023, at his home.  
He was born May 29, 1954, in Goshen, to Robert F. and Laura L. Penrose Stengel. On April 11, 1975, he married Arletta Jean Darnell Stengel and she died June 4, 2013.
Surviving are a son, Richard Stengel Jr., Milford; stepson, Eugene “Jack” Sleezer Sr., Tiffin, Ohio; four grandsons: Jacob Crisler, Illinois; Robert Lee Sleezer, Texas; Eugene “Jack” Sleezer Jr., Texas; Gregory Sleezer, Tiffin, Ohio; two sisters, Vicki (Carl Taylor) Stengel, Goshen; Betty Stengel, Bristol; and friend, Dorothy Grant, Milford.
Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, Arletta; and sister, Donna Shepard.
As a child, “Bull” visited Niagara Falls. He worked for the Warsaw Street Department from April 1, 1979, to April 1, 2012, and retired after 33 years. He loved NASCAR, flea markets and swap meets, was a foodie and liked putting model cars together. “Bull” especially enjoyed anything to do with cars, from going to car shows to working on them in his spare time. He was funny, a hard worker, a caring father and husband who always wanted to help others.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 with the funeral service following at 1 p.m., all at Rieth Rohrer Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. Pastor Ruben Chupp will officiate. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery, Millersburg.
