Softball Sectionals

Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at Manchester


Manchester softball’s season came to an end in the sectional semifinals Tuesday night, but not without the Lady Squires putting up a fight in a 16-13 loss to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at home. Manchester ends the season with a 6-21 record.

Hadley West went 2-3 with three runs driven in and two runs scored. Molly Schannep also had a 2-3 night, hitting a double and driving in two more runs. McKelvey Espeset added an RBI on a sacrifice fly. Samantha Shock struck out six on the mound.

The Lady Squires will return next season.

Oregon-Davis vs. Triton

Triton kept its season alive in a big way in the opening round of sectional play at Westville Tuesday night, defeating Oregon-Davis 26-0. The Lady Trojans are now 4-18 this season.

Triton will look to continue its season Thursday night against Marquette Catholic.

Baseball

Manchester at Fort Wayne Wayne


An offensive explosion led to a win in Manchester’s final regular season game Tuesday night as the Squires defeated Fort Wayne Wayne 18-13 on the road. Manchester is now 11-14 this season.

Gavin Martin had a great day at the plate, going 4-5 with two doubles, a home run and four runs scored. Ethan Hendrix also had a big night, driving in four runs and hitting a double and a triple. Reiss Gaerte went 3-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.

The Squires take on Rochester Saturday afternoon at Wabash in the team’s first sectional game.

Triton at Northfield

Triton was unable to get much going offensively in the team’s regular season finale, falling 13-1 at Northfield. The Trojans are now 10-16 as they head into the playoffs.

The lone Triton run was driven in by Kohan Hensley. Drew Bingamon and Braxton Kaufman each had a hit.

Triton will face off with the winner of Oregon-Davis and Culver Community Saturday afternoon in the sectional semifinal at Tri-Township.
