Howard also qualified for the May 23 Goshen regional with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash (1:00.87).

The Manchester Squires took third in the team standings with 81 points, followed by Whitko (64), and area schools Triton (7th place, 35), and Tippecanoe Valley (8th place, 34) rounded out the Times-union area schools’ effort Tuesday night in Marshall County.

Manchester’s Kadence Fox captured the 3200-meter run with a winning time of 11:25.75 to cap off blue ribbon performances among participating schools.

Several area athletes will join Howard, Harper and Fox in Goshen next week.

Manchester’s Payton Ream (second place, 100m hurdles, 16.10 sec.), and Aliala Atienza (third place, 100m hurdles, 16.95 sec.) also earned regional berths as part of the 400-metetr relay team with the help of Taryn Finch, and Olivia Davis (second place, 52.10 sec.).

The Squires’ 3200-meter relay team of Jade Springer, Lillian VerMeulen, Grace Gibbs, and Margaret VerMeulen finished second (10:05.92), and they’ll be joined by Triton’s quartet of Rory Heckaman, Katie Richard, Macy Carson, and Jocelynn Faulkner (11:04.99) next Tuesday with a third-place finish.
