WINONA LAKE – A ribbon cutting was held at the Grace College disc golf course Tuesday afternoon to commemorate brand new signs and tee pads for the nine-hole course.

Just one year ago, a small brick at the front of the course was the only indication that the large green space was in fact, a dis golf course. Now, after renovations, a large sign overlooks King’s Highway and invites all to get in on the fun. Additionally, each hole now has a new concrete tee pad at its starting point as opposed to the previous dirt incarnation, as well as signs that indicate the hole’s par, length as well as the location of the next tee box.

“Before, unless you were really familiar with where the course was and how it flowed, you could get lost pretty easily. Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce ambassador and avid disc golf fan Jon Vida said. “Now it looks really sharp, really professional and I think it’s a really awesome part of this community.”

The renovations were made possible due to sponsorships from local businesses, which were thanked in the form of company logos being displayed on each hole sign. Wildman, the sponsor of the entire course, is featured on the main course sign.

The course only had to close down for a couple days during the process to allow for the new concrete tee pads to dry. It is now open to the public and is free to play.

“Disc golf has grown so much in our community over just the past couple of years,” Vida said. “It’s easy to learn, easy to play while still taking some skill and a great way to meet people.”

The course’s first hole can be found on the lawn in front of Indiana Hall on the corner of Wooster Road and King’s Highway.
