Hoover Resigns As Warsaw Girls Soccer Coach

By Staff Report-

Jon Hoover recently stepped down as head girls soccer coach at Warsaw Community High School; Hoover informed the athletic department of his intentions early last week.

“I love this team and will miss coaching them terribly,” Hoover says, “but I also have a young man that will be a freshman next year and another entering kindergarten, and I can’t wait to be their biggest fans on the sidelines. It is truly the definition of bittersweet.”

In six years under Hoover’s leadership, the Tigers went 71-34-11 overall and 37-3-2 in Northern Lakes Conference play—claiming the last four NLC championships. nIn the last three seasons, the Lady Tigers posted a record of 34-18-5 overall and 20-1 in the NLC.

“We will have some big shoes to fill in replacing Coach Hoover as the head coach of the girls soccer program,” says WCHS Athletic Director Matt Binkerd. “His dedication, commitment and passion for the team and sport will be greatly missed.”

Binkerd says the process to find a new coach begins immediately, “Finding a replacement will be one the highest priorities for the athletic department as this is a BIG hire for Warsaw Athletics.”

The opening will be posted this week and interviewing of qualified candidates is expected to take place after Spring Break, which runs from April 5-9.
