PIERCETON – Pierceton Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting Friday for Julia’s Tamales Y Tacos, 303 N. 1st St.
Owner Julia Martinez said the restaurant has been open for about a month. Co-owner is Martinez's fiance Ryan Craft. She got into the restaurant business after leaving her property management job. She decided on the Pierceton location because she lives in the area. She said it’s the only Mexican restaurant in Pierceton.
Julia’s offers food like tamales, burritos and quesadillas. Martinez said her favorite dishes the restaurant offers are the tamales and the burritos.
She currently has two employees, which includes herself, and she hopes to expand to fill up the building Julia’s is currently at.
Martinez said Julia’s Tamales Y Tacos is there to stay in Pierceton.
Julia’s will eventually do online ordering once they get more employees, Martinez said. At this point, it’s call-in at 260-229-5851 or walk-in service.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
