WINONA LAKE — Grace College will host nationally acclaimed Christian hip-hop artist Shai Linne for its annual Sibs Weekend concert on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
The concert will take place on Grace College’s campus on the lawn in front of Indy Hall (the corner of Wooster Road and King’s Highway). The event is free and open to the public.
“Shai Linne has the unique gift of using hip-hop to communicate theology,” said Dr. Wally Brath, assistant professor of worship arts at Grace College. “His songs are creative and Christ-exalting.”
The night before the concert, Linne will lead a free masterclass on songwriting and music production open to students and the public. The class will be held on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the William Male Center, 999 College Ave., according to a news release from Grace.
“This concert is always an exciting event for the campus, but it is especially exciting for the students in the worship arts program,” said Brath. “Our students look forward to meeting the artists and interacting with them while they are on campus.”
Linne’s most popular albums include “The Attributes of God” and “The Atonement.” Recognized as a pioneer in lyrical theology, Linne has been touted for the complexity of his rhyme schemes when rapping, the news release states.
He has collaborated with Lecrae, Trip Lee, Timothy Brindle, Flame, Hazakim and numerous other Christian rappers.
Husband to Blair and father to Sage, Maya and Ezra, Linne published his book for children and parents in 2018 called “God Made Me and You,” which celebrates God’s design for ethnic diversity.
Beyond his creative endeavors, Linne also helped plant Risen Christ Fellowship in his hometown, Philadelphia, Pa.
