Local High School Sports Recaps For 4/13

Baseball

Manchester at Bluffton


Manchester baseball dropped its third straight game Tuesday evening, falling 13-5 on the road at Bluffton. The Squires are now 1-3 this spring.

Garrett Sites put up his fair share of offensive numbers in this one, hitting two solo home runs to finish with two hits and two RBIs. Riess Gaerte went 3-4 with a double and three runs batted in.

Manchester plays its next game Thursday at Lakewood Park Christian, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Softball

Wawasee at Columbia City


Wawasee was on the wrong end of a blowout Tuesday night, falling 15-0 to undefeated Columbia City on the road in five innings. The Warriors are now 3-2 this season.

Ava Couture and Brooke Catron were the only two Wawasee players to record a hit. The Warriors will look to get back in the win column Friday night at Manchester.

Plymouth at Triton

Triton battled hard but is still searching for its first win of the season after coming up just short in a 4-2 home loss to Plymouth Tuesday night. The Lady Trojans are now 0-5 this spring.

The Trojans play their next game Thursday at Goshen.

Manchester at Bluffton

Manchester was able to score some early runs but was unable to hold off a late Bluffton surge, falling 17-7 in six innings Tuesday evening. The Lady Squires are now 1-2 this season.

Paxton Baker and Izzy Renz both drove in two runs for Manchester, with Baker leading the team with three hits, two of them doubles. Renz was busy on the base path, stealing two bags.

The Lady Squires play their next game Friday against Wawasee.

Tennis

North Judson at Triton

It was a dominant performance for the Triton tennis team Tuesday night, as the Trojans defeated North Judson 5-0 at home to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Jenna Bules was extremely efficient in her No. 2 singles match, winning 6-1, 6-1 for the straight-set victory. No. 3 singles player Cheyenne Hawley won in similar fashion, taking her match 6-1, 6-0.

Track?And Field

Tippecanoe Valley/Whitko/Lakeland Christian at North Miami


Tippecanoe Valley won the boys and Whitko took first place in the girls track and field meet at North Miami High School Tuesday night.

On the girls side, Tippecanoe Valley’s Chesnee Miller placed first in the 800 and 1600 meter runs. Valley’s Nate Parker and Cody Black finished 1-2 in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
