Warsaw Community High School Select Theatre will put on “The Addams Family” Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Performing Arts Center.

The musical will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.

Lawrence Evans, assistant theater director, said it is based on the 1960s TV show “The Addams Family.”

The Addams family is a family that loves the darkness of the world. The musical is about two families from different sides of the world coming together. They’re completely different, but they find joy in each other.

He said he thinks the message of the musical is to be yourself and don’t be afraid to be yourself with the people you love.

He hopes the audience has a good time watching the musical and that students get a sense of commandership with each other since it’s one of the last shows of the year.

There are about 16 students in the play. Evans said while they had to audition to be in Select Theatre, they didn’t have to audition to be in the play.

The troupe wanted to do the show and were told they could put it on if they won the Indiana State Thespian Conference, which they did in January.

He said the musical is going to a big fundraiser for select theatre to go to the International Thespian Festival in June at Indiana University in Bloomington.

Besides the musical, there is also a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money for the troupe as it costs $999 per student to attend the International Thespian Festival.
