ELKHART – A week after opening Northern Lakes Conference action with a massive 70-0 win over Plymouth, the Warsaw Tigers would earn a shut out victory by a little closer of a margin, defeating Concord 19-0 on the road Friday night. The Tigers are now 4-0 this season and 2-0 in the NLC.

Warsaw continued its formula of running the ball down opposing defenses’ throats once again, finishing with 242 rushing yards on the night. The Tigers would get on the board for the first time in the first quarter on a 3-yard run by quarterback Grady Nolin. The extra point would be blocked and Warsaw would have to settle for a 6-0 lead. Nolin would go just 1-6 for seven yards, but would add 24 on the ground.

Neither team would score in the second quarter as Warsaw’s defense again showed why it is one of the stoutest units in 6A football. The Tigers held Concord to just 103 yards of total offense, and forced a remarkable -31 rushing yards on 23 carries as well as four fumbles.

Warsaw would get back into the end zone in the third quarter when running back Reed Zollinger would score from three yards out. Zollinger held the title of lead rusher for the Tigers, racking up 83 yards on nine carries. Trying to get the point back from the earlier PAT, Warsaw would go for two and fail. Heading into the final quarter, the visitors would hold a 12-0 lead.

Just three minutes into the fourth, German Flores-Ortega would score the final points of the game on a two-yard carry. Flores-Ortega would finish the night with 68 yards.

Warsaw remains on the road next Friday, as the team travels to Nappanee to take on NorthWood at 7 p.m.
