Scott Smith, who owns Crooked Barn Smoked BBQ with husband Shawn, said they started at their current location on May 7, but they started the company in September.
He said the reason the business was started was because of their passion of the food. Scott said he and Shawn would always have family parties and everyone would always want them to make barbecue. People would always say they should take their food “to the public, it’s amazing. And I said, ‘Why not?’ So we started it.”
After it was decided Scott and Shawn wanted to open the business, they had to come up with a name. Scott said they wanted to go with a farm theme because they do come from a farming community. The “Smoked BBQ” part of the name was a given because they make barbecue.
Scott said Crooked Barn Smoked BBQ also caters, noting it has done some catering to Parkview Warsaw.
He hopes to give people affordable prices on high-quality homecooked barbecue, and make it easy for delivery by ordering online at the website www.crookedbarnbbq.com.
They want to be able to provide their food seven days a week to people.
Items on the menu include the barnyard beef brisket and pop-and-pull pork, both of which comes as a sandwich or a dinner; tasty tenderloin, which can comes a sandwich, dinner or salad; hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, cole slaw and loaded nachos.
Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
