WINONA LAKE - Grace’s women’s golf team was pleased to have Summer Stillson recognized by the Crossroads League after the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.

Stillson was named an honorable mention for the All-Crossroads League Team on Monday.

Stillson impressed in her first year with the Lady Lancers with strong individual performances throughout the season.

She started the season with a first-place finish in the Pure Michigan Invitational, and also picked up victories at Olivet Nazarene intercollegiate and the Eagle Glen invitational.

Stillson led Grace to a runner-up finish in the NCCAA National Championships and helped them receive national recognition in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll.



Manchester's Brooke Bouwens Named HCAC Female Track AOTW

CARMEL - Manchester University junior hurdler Brooke Bouwens has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

Bouwens (Clarksville, Mich.) highlighted the Manchester University women's track & field team's efforts at the Indiana University Billy Hayes Invitational on a Friday May 6 as she posted a career-best time of 1:06.47 in the 400m hurdles – good enough for 4th all-time in the Manchester record books. Bouwens would place third overall in the field on Friday.



Grace Pair Earn Weekly Awards

WINONA LAKE - Two members of Grace’s track and field team pulled in awards for their performances last week.

Bryan Hernandez-Rios was named the NCCAA National Male Track Athlete of the Week, and Mackenzie DeLong repeated as the NCCAA National Female Field Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row.

Additionally, Hernandez-Rios was named the Crossroads League’s Male Track Athlete of the Week.

Hernandez-Rios starred for the Lancers at last week’s Crossroads League Championships (held at the University of Notre Dame). He was named the league’s Most Valuable Running Event Athlete for the meet, winning a grueling double in the 5,000-meter race and the 10,000. He hit the NAIA "A" standard in both races. His time of 30:37.28 in the 10,000 bettered his own school record.

DeLong earned a pair of top-five finishes in the league meet. She placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the javelin at the Crossroads League Championships.

The Lancers turn their attention this week to the national stage. Grace will take on the 2022 NCCAA National Championships at Greenville College (Ill.) from Wednesday to Friday. The men’s squad won the NCCAA national title last year, while the women were the national runners-up.
