Elise Wins 1st Annual ‘Warsaw’s Got Talent’ With ‘Video Games’

David Elise’s singing talent was selected for the top prize by judges Joe Thallemer, Warsaw mayor; Kyle Dukes, Kosciusko County sheriff; and Lakesha Green, Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts executive director.
Elise, 21, said he wrote the song earlier this year and was about playing video games and having fun.
Second place went to dancers Alayna Miller and Gianna LaBarbera from Kimiko Academy of Dance, directed by Niki Horikawa.
A tap dancing number by Victoria Peloza took third place. She’s been performing since she was 3.
Other contestants included Delaney Fosnaugh, who sang with her guitar; Kimberly Caudill, who sang a country song; Abigail Fisher, who sang an original piece; Steve Laskowski, who sang an original song with his guitar; Bryce Lippe, who sang a Josh Turner song; the Friends of the Warsaw Community Public Library cart drill team; martial artists from Caudill’s ATA Martial Arts; magician Kevin Long and Amanda Sautter who performed a comedy routine.
Kris Lake, from Kensington Media, was the master of ceremonies.
To participate in the talent show, contestants had to go to the Main Street Warsaw website, submit a video and supply Lake with background music if needed, as well as a biography. One entry came all the way from Warsaw, Poland, Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Member Relations Manager Scott Wiley said.
Entries were accepted for about three weeks until May 27. Performances were limited to about 5 minutes, including set-up and tear-down time.
The talent competition was part of First Friday, sponsored by Main Street Warsaw, Kensington Digital Media and the Dr. Dane and Mary Louise Miller Foundation.
Also, as part of the June First Friday, attendees were able to enjoy Pop Up Putt Putt, food, vendors, a cruise-in of classic cars, motorcycles and a small petting farm.
