Co-owner Curtis Grady said Dottie’s opened before the weekend of Halloween. He said he and his wife, Angie, opened up the store next to KiZa Designs.
They were originally going to rent a bigger building and have both businesses incorporated in the same building.
“Since we couldn’t do that, we decided to open (Dottie’s) on its own,” he said.
Dottie’s sells shakes, malts, old-fashioned and regular candy and soda. They have up to about 16 flavors of ice cream, including Fat Elvis and standard vanillas.
When asked why they wanted to open up the store, Curtis said it started with the old-fashioned sodas and it “kinda snowballed into something. I don’t know, give some variety to the community.”
Current hours of business are 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon to 4 p.m.?Saturday.
Curtis said they’re looking to add hours on Tuesday and Wednesday in the next couple of weeks.
