Warsaw Finishes Regular Season With Win Over Carroll

By Connor McCann-

FORT WAYNE – After a home-heavy first half of the season, the Warsaw Tigers finished a second half, road game-filled gauntlet with a 62-50 victory over the Carroll Chargers. Warsaw finishes its regular season with a 16-7 record.

It was the usual suspects leading the Tigers in scoring once again. Senior Judah Simfukwe and junior Jaxson Gould both finished the night with 20 points. Simfukwe was efficient in reaching the total, going 6-10 from the field and 8-9 from the charity stripe. Drew Heckaman also had a good night putting the rock in the basket, as he finished his evening with 15.

The scorers also did a good job rebounding the ball as well. Both Gould and Simfukwe finished with eight boards, tied for the team-high. Four of Simfukwe’s eight rebounds came on the offensive end. Russell Winchester rounded out the top three by grabbing five. Heckaman led all Tiger passers with five assists.

Carroll got the victory in the junior varsity game, 56-47. Austin Polk led all Warsaw scorers with 12 points.

Warsaw will return to action Tuesday night, when they’ll take on Class 4A number eight ranked Penn in the first round of Sectional 4. The last time these two teams faced off in the playoffs, The Tigers came away with a 54-50 overtime win in 2020.
