Lancers Take Down Firestorm

WARSAW – Grace College’s men’s tennis team blanked Arizona Christian in nonleague play on Thursday.

The Lancers won 7-0 during indoor competition at Warsaw’s Eastlake Racquet Club.

Grace won all nine matchups but not without a stiff challenge from the Firestorm (4-3). Doubles’ play, in particular, was hotly contested.

Nicolas Doria and Francisco Margaria pulled out a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Fabricia Galvan and Ramiro Candia battled to a 7-5 victory at No. 2, and Ivan Antinori and Facundo Paredes won by the same score at No. 3.

During singles’ play, all six courts were straight-set winners for Grace. Galvan had the stiffest test, winning 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) at No. 3 singles.

Paredes (6-1, 6-4) won at the top singles’ court, and David Sandi was victorious at No. 2 (6-4, 6-0).

Candia at No. 4 (6-1, 6-3), Doria at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and Antinori at No. 6 (6-3, 6-2) were all winners as well in singles.

The Lancers’ nonleague schedule continues with a pair of games this weekend at Grand Valley State and Ferris State.



Spartans Conclude Wrestling Schedule

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Manchester University wrestling squad concluded its season at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships hosted at Adrian College in Michigan on Friday February 25.

Fifth-year senior Josh Stephenson picked up a win in his final collegiate appearance to lead the Black & Gold on Friday afternoon. Stephenson pinned Hiram’s Grayson Smith in his second bout of the day in the 133-lb. weight class.
