CLAYPOOL – There were no injuries after a fire Tuesday night at Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC).

According to Chief Rick Hurley, the Claypool Fire Department got the call about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire was contained to the bag house. It was a small fire and mostly smoke and water damage, he said.

There were some people in the control room in the building, but no one had to be rescued and everyone was able to get out themselves, he said.

What caused the fire is still under investigation, he said.

Operations of the impacted system at the site have been suspended and LDC will continue to assess the situation and conduct a thorough investigation, according to a news release from LDC.

Warsaw-Wayne Township Fire Territory, Winona Lake Fire Department, Silver Lake Fire Department, Henry Township Fire Department and Pleasant Township Fire Department assisted. Sidney and Burket fire departments were on stand-by.

The LDC maintenance and management teams were a big help in the process as well, Hurley said.
