WINONA LAKE — Grace College will showcase the thesis portfolios of 11 art majors on campus this spring.

The exhibition for the Senior Art Show will take place Monday through March 3 at the Grace College Mount Memorial Hall Art Gallery, 808 Kings Highway, Winona Lake. The senior students will hold a public reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 11.

“As faculty, it is a privilege to see how these students integrate their faith into their art,” said Kim M. Reiff, chair of the Department of Visual, Performing and Media Arts. “Working in a variety of mediums, the students have multiple skill sets in both digital and traditional art forms. They have been able to further develop their academic visual aesthetic through internships and work-study opportunities that have contributed to building strong visual art and design portfolios. They are the visual voice of our future.”

The Mount Memorial Art Gallery will showcase the work of students, Kali Aten (visual communication design), Bianca Jimenez (illustration), Anna Keller (visual communication design), Maurice Macklin (visual communication design), Claire Mumaw (visual communication design), Sarah Patalinghug (art), Noah Schumacher (art), Annette Sipple (art), Hailey Tennant Slack (media arts), Sophia Weiss (visual communication design) and Brandon Wray (visual communication design).

The Mount Memorial Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 1 to 4 p.m.

The department’s goal is to equip graduates with the ability to communicate visually, possess professional skills and be able to analyze works from historical and contemporary cultural perspectives, according to a news release from Grace. Students learn to demonstrate excellence in creative work that ultimately serves in their calling as artists, Christians and professionals.
