Planet Fitness Offers A ‘Judgement-Free Zone’

On Monday, Planet Fitness, 2878 Frontage Road, Warsaw, had an open house and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce. The fitness center opened on Halloween.
Olivia Seif, club manager, said, “Planet Fitness is known to be home of the ‘Judgement-Free Zone.’ We don’t cater to bodybuilding or powerlifting. We focus more on general fitness because most of our gym users are first-time gym users.”
There are over 2,000 locations worldwide and Planet Fitness is open and staffed 24/7, she said.
“We do have over 100 pieces of cardio equipment. We have strength-training equipment, as well as free weights. We also offer everything in the Black Card Spa, which could be tanning beds, hydra massage beds, deep-tissue massage chairs and could be the Total Body Enhancement, which is an infrared bed, or it could also be our new Wellness Pod, which just is a relaxation pod,” Seif said.
Planet Fitness also offers free fitness training classes with both of its memberships - the Classic Membership and the Black Card.
On Monday, the Warsaw location hosted a promotion for both of its membership of just $1 down.
The Classic Membership is Planet Fitness’ “famous” $10-a-month membership, Seif stated. “That allows you access to this location only, as well as fitness training classes, as well as everything on the Planet Fitness mobile app.”
The Black Card membership is $24.99 a month. “It allows you to any Planet Fitness worldwide, 24-hour access to our location as well. Everything on the Planet Fitness app, the free fitness training classes. You can bring a guest with you for free at any time, and then anything in the Black Card Spa,” Seif said.
The fitness trainer provides classes in core, upper and lower body, as well as informational classes. A member can design their own program where they can tell the fitness trainer what their goals are and he will make a program specifically for that member. He also does a new member orientation where he will take a person around the club, show them where the fitness equipment is and how to load the weights properly.
“And he also does a TRX, which is just a body weight-related class, and he also has a burn and strength class,” Seif said.
Asked what sets Planet Fitness apart from other gyms, Seif responded, “We do offer a lot of equipment. We offer a variety. We pride ourselves on keeping it clean, comfortable and not intimidating. We focus more on general fitness, so I think one thing that does set us apart is the atmosphere that we provide here. As you can see, we have the cardio equipment. No one is waiting for anything. We have the strength-training equipment. We have the tanning beds. We try to keep it clean, but like I said, it’s the welcoming atmosphere that does set us apart from others.”
Seif said they are more than just a friendly atmosphere.
“We do really care about our members. We do try to learn everyone’s name and create that connection with them. We do want to be advocates of the community, so we already are starting to help out with the community and participate,” she said. “We partnered with Baker Youth Club, as well as being a part of the Chamber, so we’re really trying to make a name for ourselves in the community.”
