Cross Country

Triton at Nierste Invitational

BREMEN – Both Triton’s boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Nierste Inviational at Bremen high school Tuesday. The boys finished in fifth place, while the girls team dominated to take first.

The Lady Trojans had two athletes in the top ten, including the winner of the race Jocleynn Faulkner. Faulkner finished with a time of 21:43.08. Rilee Bemish took seventh place with a time of 24:38.88. The top finisher on the boys side was Connor Olesen, who finished 25th.

Warsaw/Wawasee at NLC Invitational

GOSHEN – Warsaw girls cross country had a tremendous showing at the first NLC invite of the season, defeating all seven other schools in attendance to take first place. The boys finished in third place.

Joey Rastrelli paced all runners once again, finishing in first place with a time of 19:22. The Tigers’ second highest finisher was Elizabeth Vander Bie, who placed ninth with a time of 21:18. Blake Keene had a personal record of 20:40.

Volleyball

Warsaw at Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA – Warsaw volleyball opened up Northern Lakes Conference play with a sweep over Mishawka Tuesday night, winning 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-19). The Tigers are now 8-3.

Ellie Hepler led the team in both aces with three and digs with 13. Ava Egolf had two blocks. Melaina Hawblitzel led all players with 15 kills. Warsaw travels to Goshen Thursday.

Wawasee at Manchester

NORTH MANCHESTER – Wawasee continued a very strong start to its season with a straight set victory over nonconference foe Manchester, winning 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-18). The Warriors are now 8-2 this fall while the Lady Squires fall to 4-7.

Both teams are in action Thursday, with Wawasee hosting Goshen and Manchester at home against Bluffton.

Peru at Tippecanoe Valley

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley picked up its first Three Rivers Conference win of the season Tuesday, defeating Peru 3-1 (26-24, 25-17, 19-25, 25-16). The Lady Vikings are now 3-4 this season, 1-1 in the TRC.

Junior Ava Smith led all players with 14 kills. Not far behind was MacKaylie Costello, who had 10. Costello also added four aces, tied for the team high, as well as two blocks. Avery Wagoner had 31 assists.

Tippy Valley is back in action Thursday against Maconaquah.

KNOX – Triton opened up Hoosier North Athletic Conference play with a straight set victory over Knox, winning 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 26-24). The Trojans are now 6-1 this fall.

Addyson Viers had 19 kills to lead the team in that category once again. Kinsey Atkins had 14 digs. Next up on the schedule for Triton is Culver Community at home Thursday night.

Boys Soccer

Lakeland Christian at Winamac

WINAMAC – Lakeland Christian boys soccer picked up its first win of the season in dominating fashion, defeating Winamac 7-0 on the road. The Cougars are now 1-4 this season.

Jashawn Zielasko was dangerous on attack as always, finishing the day with two goals as well as an assist. Andrew Bosch had two assists for LCA. The Cougars are back in action Thursday at Argos.

Girls Golf

Northridge/Plymouth at Warsaw

WARSAW – Warsaw girls golf defeated Northridge but lost to Plymouth in a three-way match Thursday, shooting a 181, just four strokes behind the leaders. Abbey Peterson was a medalist with a 41.
