Claypool Wastewater - Drinking

    The Town of Claypool intends to apply to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for a Wastewater/Drinking Water (WDW) Program construction grant funded through Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. These funds are to be used for community development activities that will include: improvements to the wastewater treatment plant in the Town of Claypool. The Town of Claypool will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 12th at 7:00 PM at the Claypool Lions Club (201 W. Calhoun Street, Claypool, IN 46510) to provide citizens an opportunity to express their views on federally assisted projects, the wastewater treatment plant improvements, and other issues related to wastewater/drinking water in the community .

    If approved, this grant of up to $700,000 will fund updates and enhancements to the town’s wastewater treatment plant to keep the town in compliance with environmental regulations. This grant and the wastewater treatment plant enhancements will benefit the households of Claypool, 54.9% of whom are low to moderate income households. A 20% matching amount from the Town of Claypool will be used from the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (CLFRF). This project will result in no displacement of any persons or businesses.

    Interested citizens are invited to provide comments regarding these issues either at the public hearing or by prior written statement. Accommodations for individuals with disabilities or with limited English proficiency can be requested at the contact information below.
