By Staff Report-

The third annual Sons and Daughters Festival comes to the grounds of First Christian Church (FCC) in Warsaw at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 24.

The message of the Sons and Daughters Festival is to foster awareness and encourage connection pertaining to adoption and orphan care in the United States, specifically in the local community. The theme this year is One Church|One Adoption, according to a provided news release.

If every U.S. church would rally around one adopting family within their congregation, the domestic orphan crisis would be eradicated, stated the release.

“The numbers add up! It sounds simple, but it takes awareness, time, energy, resources and a passion to make it happen. Everyone is called to orphan care, but everyone can cover a different need,” stated the release.

At this year's Sons and Daughters Festival, there will be a variety of local speakers, musicians and nonprofit organizations joining to share about adoption and orphan care.

There will be worship time led by Warsaw Community Church Worship Team and First Christian Church Worship Team. A group of Grace College Worship Arts students will be led by recent grad Stephen Coston and there will be a Student Worship Arts Team from Lakeland Christian Academy.

The event will also have the music from Mark Schultz, who was adopted.

There is also a lineup of speakers for the night: Pastor Matthew Rogers, First Christian Church, One Church|One Adoption; Pastor Jim Brown, Goshen Community Church, Father to the Fatherless; Ana Pierson, Pathway Community Church, Fort Wayne, Broken Redemption|The Psychology of Adoption; and Jay Bell, Lakeland Christian Academy, prayer.

Along with worship and speakers, there will be activities, crafts and face painting for kids, as well as local food trucks for dinner and dessert.

One of the goals this year is to support orphan care in the local area. Some of the proceeds from the festival will be going directly to a number of local nonprofits who will be attending that night with booths. The desire is to foster connection with organizations around the community so that people know how they can help make a difference in the lives of orphans by supporting those in the community. Special thanks to Randy Polston and Combined Community Services for helping identify and connect with organizations in our community, the release stated.

The Sons and Daughters Festival is powered by Raise the Dough Inc., a local nonprofit focused on raising funds for adoption. Their goal has not only been to aid families in their adoption journey, but also to create and inspire connections between the community, adopting families and other nonprofits that share in the vision.

Claim tickets at sonsanddaughtersfestival.com/tickets. Tickets are a suggested donation of $20 for adults while all those 17 and under are free.
