Manchester Cross Country Kicks Off Season with Hokum Karem

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University cross country teams opened their season with their annual Hokum Karem races on campus.

 

The Spartans welcomed competing athletes from Trine, Huntington, St. Francis (Ind.), and St. Mary’s (Ind.)

 

The Huntington duo of Elijah Chesterman and Haile Stutzman took home top honors on the men’s side, while the Trine duo of Carol Halderman and Evie Butlermeyer led the women’s field on Wednesday.

 

Thomas Richardson (Southmont, Ind./Ladoga) and Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) led the Black & Gold with a second-place finish after posting a time of 39:05.3.

 

Fiona Frost (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence North) and Elizabeth Lohman (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) were the top women’s finishers for MU, finishing ninth overall with a time of 37:09.7.

 

Manchester will have a short turnaround as the Spartans will travel to Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich. for the Knight Invitational on Saturday September 4.
