CARMEL - Manchester University sophomore linebacker Jamaal Hubbard has been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Hubbard was joined by senior kicker Andrew Kibler this week as HCAC Players of the Week. Kibler was named the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Hubbard provided Manchester with its lone trip to the end zone in Saturday’s 22-0 victory over Defiance College. Late in the 2nd quarter, Hubbard intercepted Jordan Ambrose’s pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown. Jamaal finished Saturday’s game with 4 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles. The Manchester defense held Defiance to just 204 yards of total offense this weekend.

The Black & Gold (2-3, 2-0 HCAC) will travel to Cincinnati this weekend for a 1:30 p.m. Saturday matchup at Mount St. Joseph University.
