WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Max Rozas and David Sandi were honored for their performances in conference play.
The duo were named All-Crossroads League for Grace’s men’s tennis team, repeat honors for both student-athletes.
Rozas becomes a rarity in sports — a four-time All-Conference honoree. Rozas earned his fourth straight All-CL award.
Rozas battled through injuries in the year. Despite missing several matches, Rozas still produced 10 wins. He impressed in singles’ play with a 6-2 mark.
Sandi stepped up to play a key role atop Grace’s lineup. He has won 13 times currently, including a 6-3 record in doubles.
Sandi has now been named All-League three times, including his freshman season at Taylor University.
The Lancers, currently ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches’ Poll, reached the championship match of the Crossroads League Tournament. Grace will conclude its fall season in the next two weeks before resuming competition in the spring.
Lady Lancer Duo Named To The All-League Team
WINONA LAKE, Ind. - A pair of Grace women’s tennis standouts were recognized on the postseason All-Crossroads League Team.
Sophomore Anna Graves and freshman Lydia Ruegsegger were chosen as All-League honorees.
Ruegsegger assumed the top singles’ and doubles’ positions for the Lady Lancers in her first collegiate season. She handled the pressure well, earning a combined record of 11-5. She was especially adept at No. 1 singles, producing a 6-2 record.
Graves is currently 10-4 on the season. She only dropped one match in doubles. She played much of her season at No. 2 doubles (6-1 record) with Lauryn Riegsecker.
The Lady Lancers have two matches remaining this fall, including home against Tiffin on Wednesday and at Elmhurst on Thursday.
Lancers Sweep NCCAA Runners Of The Week
WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Grace’s cross country team swept the weekly awards from the NCCAA on Monday.
Bryan Hernandez-Rios was the NCCAA’s Male Runner of the Week, and Heather Plastow was the Female Runner of the Week.
Hernandez-Rios placed ninth in the massive Louisville Classic. He finished in ninth place out of 542 runners. His time of 25:02 in the 8k race was a personal best.
Plastow led the Lady Lancers at the Louisville Classic. She placed 34th out of 491 runners, finishing the 5k race with a time of 19:05.
The Lancers have one race this week — the Bethel Invitational in South Bend on Friday.
