A ribbon-cutting was held at the Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce office Monday to celebrate the launch of Reynolds Spice Rubs.

Owner Tracy Reynolds creates high-quality unique spice rubs by infusing salts with liquid.

The spice rubs are available for purchase through Etsy.

There are two sets to choose from: Bourbon/Zinfandel or Lemon/Lime. Each boxed set contains four 4-ounce containers of spice rubs.

The Bourbon/Zinfandel set contains the following spice rubs: Bourbon Bold, Bourbon Southwest, Zinfandel Simple and Zinfandel Savory.

The Lemon/Lime set contains Lemon Herb, Lime Chipotle, Lemon Pepper and Lime Chili.

The idea for the business came about when Reynolds' previous job was impacted by the pandemic.

“I worked for a wonderful lady here n town. We did corporate events and I really enjoyed working for her, but once the pandemic hit, we weren’t doing as many corporate events and although our work didn’t come to a complete halt, it was definitely affected,” Reynolds said.

This led to Reynolds’ decision to start her own business.

“I’ve always loved cooking. I had heard somewhere about infusing salts, and I thought ‘I’m going to try to do that and what if I made a spice rub with those salts to make it different?’ There are a lot of spice rubs, but I wanted something that would be completely different. So I set out to figure out ... how do I create that? How do I do it in a good way?”

After a lot of research on the infusion process and methods, Reynolds began creating her own rubs.

“My husband loves to smoke meats so I thought about what spice rubs he might like. And we have vegans in our family who even put it on vegetables, so it’s not just for smoking meat, but that was kind of my initial thinking,” Reynolds said.

Information about Reynolds Spice Rubs may be found on their Facebook page and on the Etsy site.
