He was born on July 19, 1941, in Milford, to Warren Daniel and Jeanette Cora Williams Evans.
He graduated in 1960 from Milford High School, attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute and was a United States Marine veteran. He was a lifetime Milford/Syracuse area resident and was married on April 24, 1965, in Bremen, to Marlene K. Sheetz, who survives. He retired as owner/operator of Evans Construction after 20-plus years and was the former owner/operator of Evans Family Store in Milford for 12 years. He formerly worked as a cost accountant for various local mobile home and RV factories.
He was a member of the Millersburg Church of Christ and American Legion Post 223 in Syracuse and formerly attended the Milford and Ligonier Christian Church.
He is survived by wife, Marlene Evans, of Syracuse; two daughters: Marcia (Russell Runyon) Goodman, of Warsaw; and Melissa (Henry) Sanchez, of Ligonier; son: Marc Evans, of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren: Maggie Sanchez, Travis Goodman, Melanie Sanchez, Ethan Goodman, Sarah Sanchez, Morgan Goodman and Emma Sanchez; six great-grandchildren: Iden Nelson, Karma Hershberger, Autumn Weaver, Ingrid Nadar, Warren Sanchez and Kalliope Hershberger; and three sisters: Joan (Lew) Bass, of Bedford, Texas; Lois (Conrad) Neff, of New Paris; and Hilda O’Blenis, of Bonita Springs, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, and one hour prior to services on Thursday, June 3 at the church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 3 at the Christian Church, 201 N. Henry St., Milford, with Pastor David Main officiating. Burial will be in the Milford Cemetery.
His last request was for his family and friends to get vaccinated.
