WINONA LAKE, IND. -- The Grace Shooting Sports Club (GSSC) won several awards this past weekend during the Scholastic Clay Target Program Collegiate National Competition at the Cardinal Shooting Complex in Marengo, Ohio. The GSSC competed against more than 200 athletes from over 20 colleges and universities across the country and participated in five different events (Trap, Skeet, Sporting Clays, Bunker Trap, and 5-Stand). Each Grace student shot 800 targets over the course of the four-day event.

The GSSC took first place in its division in the 5-Stand competition and third place in each Skeet and Bunker Trap.

Individually, Erin Lawhon, who will graduate in May, capped off her collegiate competitive tenure as First Place Female in the 5-Stand event. Additionally, Tim Clay, the graduate assistant recruiter and team member, finished the competition by hitting the last fifty Skeet targets without a miss – his first run of 50 straight in Skeet.

Several other team members had personal best performances throughout the weekend.

The GSSC is a shotgun shooting club focusing on gun safety, enhancing shooting skills, and connecting with the shooting community. The GSSC strives to promote a positive image of shooting sports, provide opportunities for leadership development among members, and enhance community awareness of safe shooting sports.

The GSSC is open to all Grace students and meets twice a month at KOSKO Shotgun Sports Complex, 2391 Fox Farm Road, Warsaw, IN 46580.
