It was a matter of who made the last shot. In a highly competitive contest that saw Grace College trade basket after basket with the University of Northwestern the entire game, it was the Eagles who took the lead one last  time for a 79-76 win in the semifinals of the NCCAA?Championships on the Lancers’ home court.

Grace led 39-34 at halftime after surging ahead to score the last six points of the first half but Northwestern, seeded fourth, scored 45 second half points to pull out the win.

Frankie Davidson led another balanced attack by Grace with 18 points while Haden Deaton and Jakobs Gibbs followed closely behind with 16 and 14 points respectively.

Jakob Wadding was effective as well until he left the game in the second half with an injury and didn’t return. Isaiah Malone was able to use his 6’9 frame to score and rebound at will when he was in the game but foul trouble kept him on the bench for most of the contest.

Grace used its size to control the glass on both ends, outrebounding the Eagles 41-29.

Henry Fahnbulleh led the Eagles in scoring with 21 points while Noah Alm had 20.

The Lancers will play Alice Lloyd College at noon on Saturday for third place honors.
