Comparatively, the NCCAA National Championships at Grace cram more collegiate basketball into one venue than any other basketball tournament.
This year’s Big Ten Tournament, for example, consists of 15 games in five days in Indianapolis. The junior college NJCAA men’s championship in Hutchinson, Kan., is a 24-game tournament over a six-day span. None of those tournaments can match the average of six games per day that the NCCAA championships can offer.
“We are very thankful for the opportunity to host two tournaments of this magnitude,” said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “This is not only great for our institution but for our community as well. We hope the Hoosier basketball experience at Grace College is a great memory for all those who attend.”
The NCCAA Nationals start heavily with eight games apiece on Wednesday and Thursday at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center. Games tip off at 8:30 a.m. and will run continuously until after 10 p.m.
Friday’s pace slows to four games, and the tournament climaxes on Championship Saturday with the third-place games and championships. The men’s championship is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the women’s title to be decided at 5 p.m. Grace’s men’s and women’s teams both earned a spot in the tournament field and will begin play on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men).
For all those who can never get enough basketball, this tournament gives fans a full week of hoops that is unmatched in number by any other national tourney.
