Registration for cars, trucks and motorcycles is $15 per vehicle with all proceeds benefitting the BYC, First Friday coordinator Paula Bowman said. There also will be a silent auction to benefit BYC.
Cars can start lining up at 4 p.m. Friday, and this year there will be two entry points.
The first entry will be on South Buffalo Street. Groups can stage in the Marsh parking lot if they want to arrive as a group. The entry tent is at Glam on South Buffalo Street.
The second entry point will be on East Center Street by Key Bank.
“We are excited and expecting a huge turnout,” Bowman said.
The Optimist Car Show earlier this summer had about 260 vehicles, and Bowman said they hope to surpass that number for First Friday.
Downtown merchants will stay open later, she said. There also will be vendors on the courthouse lawn, as well as food.
“It’s going to be a great night,” Bowman said.
Car show judging will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., with the awards at 8 p.m.
Additionally, Bowman noted that the benefit basketball tournament scheduled for today was cancelled due to a lack of teams registering.
Other upcoming downtown events to keep in mind include:
• Sept. 3, First Friday with the theme of “Celebrate a New You.”
• Sept. 11, 9/11 Remembrance Parade starts at 4 p.m., from Center Lake Pavilion to Buffalo Street, to Center Street and ending at Boggs.
