Co-owners of Precision Medical Technologies Inc. and Precision Medical Industries Inc., Kurt Kamholz and Jeff Thornburgh, on Wednesday announced several management promotions in effort to hand over the day-to-day operations of both businesses.

Precision Medical Technologies Inc. is a medical device contract manufacturer with facilities in Warsaw, Rome City and North Manchester. The company is primarily focused on the production of surgical instruments and implants for the orthopedic markets of spine, extremities and trauma, according to a news release from Precision.

Precision Medical Industries Inc., a sister company located in Rome City, is equipped with design capabilities. The company concentrates on manufacturing off-the-shelf silicone surgical instrument handles, offering industry-leading turnaround times and custom designs.

Ryan Thornburgh has been promoted to president of Precision Medical Technologies and Precision Medical Industries Inc. Ryan’s most recent experience as business development manager makes him uniquely qualified to step into this leadership role, the release states. Ryan has developed positive relationships with all of the company’s customers, achieving significant growth for the businesses in each of the last three years. Kamholz and Jeff Thornburgh believe this success in growing the business, which has been supported by strong initiatives from Engineering, Quality and Operations, has resulted in a solid management team capable of delivering high quality, cost-competitive orthopedic products to our customers.

Ryan Thornburgh’s educational background includes a MBA from Grace College, Winona Lake; a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Health, from Indiana University, Bloomington; and an Associate’s Degree of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant, Brown Mackie College, South Bend. Ryan previously worked as a licensed physical therapist assistant in Chicago for several years before joining Precision Medical Technologies Inc.

Kamholz and Jeff Thornburgh have further promoted Michael Conrad to vice president of business development. In Conrad’s new assignment, he will be directly responsible for business growth. Conrad joined Precision Medical Technologies Inc. in March 2017 as the human resources manager, and shortly thereafter moved into business development. Conrad’s unique medical background makes him a perfect fit to be directly responsible for business expansion, according to the release. He understands the surgical uses of the instruments and implants, as well as the strategic nature and timing of customer labs and product launches.

Prior to joining Precision Medical Technologies Inc., Conrad worked in the Department of Medical Education at Zimmer Biomet; with Indiana Donor Network as an organ recovery coordinator and tissue recovery team leader; and at St. Joseph Hospital as a burn technician. Conrad has a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Sciences from Purdue University, and related coursework in clinical anatomy, biochemistry and human disease and disorder.

Jonathan Tyler has been named vice president of human resources. He has been serving as the human resources manager for Precision Medical Technologies Inc. since 2018 and most recently did an “outstanding” job of providing the direction and guidance to company personnel to work safely through the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the release.

Considered an essential business, Precision Medical Technologies Inc. has been able to retain and provide full scheduled work weeks to all employees since March 2019. Tyler’s diligence in directing the safety measures and maintaining the discipline to avoid COVID-19 exposure has been a success, the release states As such, Precision Medical Technologies Inc. has been able to continue to fill customers’ orders, and keep employees on the job in a clean and safe work environment.

Tyler’s past experience includes 20 years of law enforcement with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department. He is a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy; a graduate of Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne with a criminal justice degree; and served in the United States Army for three years in Oklahoma and Germany.

Finally, Kamholz and Jeff Thornburgh announced that Lauren Slagle has joined Precision Medical Technologies Inc. as the corporate controller. Slagle has 10 years of experience in the orthopedic industry in various financial positions. She has held positions as a senior financial analyst and master scheduler, and she has extensive experience with Epicor ERP/Accounting Software, Microsoft Excel and Sage Fixed Assets. Slagle is a graduate of Indiana University Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Kurt Kamholz and Jeff Thornburgh are “very pleased to make this announcement of these new promotions at Precision Medical Technologies and Precision Medical Industries Inc. We believe this leadership team will provide a level of quality and delivery that exceeds our customers’ expectations, while enhancing their positions in the orthopedic marketplace,” the release concludes.
