FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Grace’s track and field team enjoyed one final tuneup on Saturday before entering the indoor postseason.

The Lancers traveled to Indiana Tech on Saturday, producing several season-best marks. Next week, Grace will take on the Crossroads League Championships on Friday and Saturday. The women’s meet will be held at Taylor with the men to compete at Indiana Wesleyan.

Heather Plastow, a junior from Warsaw who competed at Lakeland Christian, earned the spotlight on Saturday for her performance in the 1,000-meter race. Plastow, who already holds the indoor school record in the mile and 3,000, added her name to the 1,000 record. She broke a 10-year old record (MariJean Wegert, 2011) with a time of 3:01.96, beating her next-closest competitor in the race by six seconds.

The women’s 4x400 relay team of Nordia Campbell, Ashley Stoltzfus, Gracious O’Connor and Julia Malson also took first place with a season-best time of 4:00.87.

Campbell (25:41) and O'Connor (25.82) both had PRs in the 200 with Campbell placing fifth.

Two runners placed in the men’s 200, including fourth place by John Green (22.41) and sixth from Isaac Findley (22.49).

In the women’s 800, Kaitlyn Mack ran to a third-place finish at 2:26.62, and Anna Hulstedt finished ninth (2:33.09).

Tanner Sallee impressed in his first collegiate 800, running in a time of 1:59.24 for fourth place, and Maurice Macklin was fifth in the 600 (1:23.90).

Dimitri Margaritidis, Logan Rufenacht and Bryan Hernandez-Rios finished fifth, sixth and seventh respectively in the mile, and Neal Kathary placed eighth in the shot put (43-feet-6).

Tara Friesen finished ninth in the 600 (1:47.30), Ellie Wagoner and Madelyn Skidmore were fourth and sixth respectively in the 1,000, and Elizabeth Moore and Mallory Hiatt were fifth and eighth respectively in the mile.

“This meet provided a good opportunity to test ourselves one more time before the league championships,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “We had some strong performances today, and now will get ready for next weekend.”
